We actually like to use this one on our spring creeks in Missouri and Arkansas during midsummer. Why it works so well on the still water is anybody's guess. What I can say for sure is that on rough water out west, you occasionally find brown colored caddis. On those occasions, even though this isn't a traditional caddis pattern, it can save the day because of its color and floating ability.
